Welcome! I’m an Assistant Professor in the School of Politics, Security, and International Relations at the University of Central Florida. I study American politics, political economy, and behavior, with my primary research interests centered on how the changing nature of work impacts political engagement and organizing.

My dissertation, The Politics of Employment in Postindustrial United States, uses mixed methods to study how conditions in low-wage industries affect social cohesion and political engagement. Thanks to support from the Russell Sage Foundation and other organizations, the study draws on in-depth interviews, original surveys, and firm-level data for low-wage workers across the United States.

In other research projects, I draw on a range of methods to study the political attitudes and behavior of workers in other contexts, both in the United States and in Western Europe. I also study public-private approaches to US welfare policy, especially those policies linked to employment. My work has been published in Party Politics.

Before starting my PhD, I spent some time navigating precarious labor markets in Seattle’s tech industry. Besides the information available on these pages, you can also read more about me in a very nice profile that my school posted here.
